Brad Joyce – Group Chief Executive Officer

Brad has been Chief Executive Officer of Teachers Health since May 2006 and Group Chief Executive Officer since October 2019. Under his leadership Teachers Health has grown to be the largest industry-based not for profit health insurer in Australia. The Teachers Health Group now comprises industry-based not for profit health insurer Nurses & Midwives Health, UniHealth, Teachers Health Centres, Teachers Healthcare Services and the Teachers Health Foundation. Brad has extensive leadership, executive management, strategic and commercial expertise, gained from more than 15 years as CEO in the health insurance and health care industries as well as senior management experience across a number of industry sectors through his career. Brad also plays a leading role in shaping the future of the private health insurance sector through his work as:

  • Chair of Members Health Fund Alliance – an industry association that is active in the health insurance industry, shaping government policy and reform
  • a Director of Members Own Health Funds – an organisation established to promote the benefits of not-for-profit and mutual health funds
  • a Director of HAMBS Systems Ltd – an IT solutions provider to the health insurance industry
  • a Director of the Australian Health Services Alliance Ltd – a hospital and medical contracting company in the health insurance industry.
  • Council Member of the International Federation of Health Plans

Brad is a Fellow of The Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of CPA Australia and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Major) degree from the University of Newcastle.


David Lethbridge - Chief Operating Officer (COO)

David is responsible for the Business Development & Marketing and Membership Services functions of the Fund, with a strategic focus on developing and overseeing the execution of the Capability Program and the various initiatives that support that plan.

Underpinning his success as Chief Operating Officer is more than 20 years’ experience in various senior management positions in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.

Prior to joining the Fund, David was the Company Secretary for the ASX listed company Hills Holdings Limited, Company Secretary for NIB Holdings Limited and Board Secretary and Legal Counsel for the New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board.


Joseph Phung - Chief Executive Officer of Subsidiary Businesses

Joseph is responsible for managing the subsidiary business of Teachers Health, including Nurses and Midwives Health, Teachers Health Centres, Teachers Healthcare Services and Teachers Health Foundation.

Joseph was previously the Chief Financial Officer of Teachers Health. He has over 10 years' experience in the health insurance industry, working in a range of statistical, financial and business analysis roles.


Jane Coleman – Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, Jane leads the finance, treasury, actuarial, analytics and benefits assurance functions for Teachers Health’s group of businesses.

She has over 20 years’ experience in finance, commercial and governance roles spanning professional and financial services, health insurance, health care and technology.

Jane was CFO and Company Secretary of ASX-listed dental business Pacific Smiles Group, and was instrumental in its successful IPO in 2014. She previously held senior finance roles with NIB, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Credit Suisse (London). Jane has also held external board positions within the finance and health sectors.


Penny Jones – General Counsel

Penny has been practicing law for over 25 years with experience in general commercial law, corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions. Previously, Penny worked in private practice, with Freehills in Sydney and Lovells in London, as well as in corporate advisory firms and as general counsel of a listed health IT company.

Penny acts as an internal consultant to the business, providing advice on commercial and legal issues, to support decision making in a timely, professional and rigorous manner.

Mark Sinclair - Executive Manager, People & Learning

Mark’s role involves providing timely, effective and relevant human resources advice and support to the business. During his time with the Fund, Mark has introduced an effective human resources platform that provides employees with a workplace that supports life balance, professional development and equality.

Mark has more than 20 years’ experience in Human Resources across small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and multinational companies in the manufacturing, retail, general and life insurance and government enterprise sectors.
