Brad Joyce - Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Brad is responsible for leading the organisation and executing the strategy. He draws on his extensive management and commercial expertise, which includes more than 15 years’ experience in the health insurance and health care industries.

Since May 2006, Brad has led and managed the organisation, enabling it to grow to become the largest industry-based fund in Australia.

In addition to his role as CEO, Brad also plays a leading role in shaping the future of the private health insurance sector as:

  • Chair of Members Own Health Fund – an organisation established to promote the benefits of not-for-profit and mutual health funds
  • Chair of hirmaa and a Director of Private Healthcare Australia Ltd – industry associations that are currently active in the private health insurance industry
  • Deputy Chair of HAMBS Systems Ltd – an IT solutions provider to the health insurance industry
  • a Director of the Australian Health Services Alliance Ltd – a hospital and medical contracting company in the health insurance industry.

 

David Lethbridge - Chief Operating Officer (COO)

David is responsible for the Business Development & Marketing and Membership Services functions of the Fund, with a strategic focus on developing and overseeing the execution of the Capability Program and the various initiatives that support that plan.

Underpinning his success as Chief Operating Officer is more than 20 years’ experience in various senior management positions in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.

Prior to joining the Fund, David was the Company Secretary for the ASX listed company Hills Holdings Limited, Company Secretary for NIB Holdings Limited and Board Secretary and Legal Counsel for the New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board.

Joseph Phung - Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Joseph’s primary role as CFO centres on the provision of advice and support as an internal business consultant. This is based on more than a decade of experience across a range of statistical, financial and business analysis roles in the health insurance industry. Joseph’s role includes assisting with strategic decision making processes as well as providing information to the Senior Management Team and the Board of Directors. 


Tomi Strugar - Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Tomi is responsible for the delivery of reliable, high quality technology services whilst leading all elements of IT investment and operation to maximise the effective use of information services across the Fund.

Tomi’s extensive experience in the IT sector, including working with conservation giant World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in Australia and the Netherlands, is complemented by his success as an Enterprise Resource Planning Consultant and Technical Manager.

 

Gerald Chan - Executive Manager, Health Services

Gerald has responsibility for Teachers Health Fund’s optical, dental and manual therapies services by ensuring industry-leading customer service and support at the four Health Centres which UniHealth members also have access to.

Before joining the Fund, Gerald was a qualified optical dispenser and store manager at one of our Health Centres.

Penny Jones – General Counsel

Penny has been practicing law for over 25 years with experience in general commercial law, corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions. Previously, Penny worked in private practice, with Freehills in Sydney and Lovells in London, as well as in corporate advisory firms and as general counsel of a listed health IT company.

Penny acts as an internal consultant to the business, providing advice on commercial and legal issues, to support decision making in a timely, professional and rigorous manner.

 
Mark Sinclair - Executive Manager, People & Learning

Mark’s role involves providing timely, effective and relevant human resources advice and support to the business. During his time with the Fund, Mark has introduced an effective human resources platform that provides employees with a workplace that supports life balance, professional development and equality.

Mark has more than 20 years’ experience in Human Resources across small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and multinational companies in the manufacturing, retail, general and life insurance and government enterprise sectors.
