From the CEO
It’s hard to believe that we’re halfway through 2019. It’s been a busy year for UniHealth so far and we’re now looking forward to the remainder of this year and beyond – building on the work we’ve done so far and continuing to provide high quality and value for money health insurance. Thank you for your continued support.
Brad Joyce, CEO
Private Health Insurance Reforms
The Federal Government’s Private Health Insurance Reforms came into effect from 1st April 2019, heralding some significant changes to the private health insurance industry. During the reform process we carefully considered the impact these changes would have on our members and worked hard to ensure we achieved the best outcomes for you. We only made changes that were required and avoided negative impacts on you where possible. We worked hard to help you understand the changes – communicating regularly and relevantly with you to explain what the reforms are and importantly, what they mean for you and your family.
I’m pleased to say that we achieved the changes with a largely limited impact on our members. Any required changes to our products (to meet the government’s new standard categories and definitions) were minimal, and transitions in cover where needed for members were smooth. We’re also confident that following the reforms we remain well positioned for our members in terms of price and cover for the products we offer.
More for Members
As part of our mission to give more to members, we’re excited to launch a new partnership with TravelCard. This offers members a new type of travel insurance – Real-Time Travel Insurance – changing the way you’re cared for while travelling.
We’re also pleased to offer eligible members access to our Mental Wellness Program – supporting those struggling with anxiety and depression.
